Work Plan Hours and Lock

Efficiently assigning work plan hours is crucial for optimal project management.

Work Plan hours can be allocated through the percentage of workday, daily hour distribution, or total hours across the designated Work Plan duration.

Furthermore, each of these options can be fortified with a locking mechanism, ensuring that any alterations to the schedule do not impact the chosen method of hour allocation.

Here is a breakdown of each:

  • % workday: Calculated by the percentage number multiplied by the capacity of the member on that day. "Varies" will show, if the member has fixed working hours per day, but the capacity of the member is not the same from day to day.

    • When this value is locked, the total hours on the Work Plan will change when the Work Plan duration gets extended or shortened.

  • Hrs/day: Assign a fixed amount of hours per day to this member. No matter what is the capacity of the member, he will always spend a certain number of hours on this project. "Varies" will show, if the member has a fixed percentage workday, but the capacity of the member is not the same from day to day.

    • When this value is locked, the total hours on the Work Plan will change when the Work Plan duration gets extended or shortened.

  • Total hrs: Provides the total hours of work that needs to be done during the Work Plan, and distributes hours evenly throughout dates.

    • When this value is locked, the total hours won't change when the Work Plan schedule changes, instead the hours per day will be recalculated.
